Solar park Beeksedijk

TPSolar wants to install solar panels in the municipality of Goirle on an area of net 6 hectares. The solar park will have a capacity of 13.1 MW. This is equivalent to the annual consumption of 3,900 average Dutch households.

Information & background

The goal of the municipality of Goirle is to become a low carbon municipality in 2050 with a reduction of CO₂ emissions of 80% compared to 2014. This can be achieved by reducing the consumption of energy. This must be complemented by the use of sustainable and innovative forms of energy. Whereby by 2030, at least 25% of energy consumption must be generated locally from renewable sources. The goal is to achieve this through the generation of renewable energy through wind and solar. In the environmental policy plan 2017-2020, the municipality states:

‘In 2016, less than 1% was generated sustainably. Wind turbines and solar panels are currently good proven techniques for generating energy sustainably. To get started with this, frameworks are needed’.

These have been elaborated in the Zonnewijzer en windrichting (Sun dial and wind direction) municipality of Goirle and the accompanying Assessment criteria for locations of Goirle solar parks. This requires 2 wind turbine clusters and net 40 hectares of solar parks in addition to solar panels on all roofs.

TPSolar initiative

Against the background of this policy, TPSolar has developed a plan for a solar park on the Beeksedijk together with the landowners and colleagues from ZonVelden. This initiative will make a net contribution of 6 hectares to the Goirle municipality’s target. We hope to build the proposed solar park in 2023 or 2024.

Embedding in the landscape

TPSolar wants to realize a solar farm that fits in well with the landscape, cultural-historical and social values of the outlying area of Goirle. The conditions set by both the province of North Brabant and the municipality of Goirle regarding the integration of solar parks into the landscape form the basis for the development plan. The starting point for the landscape design are the present landscape characteristic elements, the historical landscape elements and the spatial structures.

As a result, the solar park will be divided into a number of different compartments, which will be separated by incorporation elements. In addition, a number of traditionally occurring tree rows will be planted in the planning area. Several types of vegetation will also be planted to create a habitat for native bees, insects and field birds.

The view of the solar park will be minimized thanks to the hedges and groves to be planted at the edges of the solar park. The panels will be placed at a maximum height of 1.5 meters, minimizing the visibility of the panels.

Resident participation

Resident participation consists of two parts: plan participation and financial participation.

In plan participation, you can contribute ideas about the plans, design, layout, management and maintenance of the solar park. Local residents are actively involved in this through information on the website and social media, information meetings and kitchen table discussions.

Financial participation means co-investing in and/or experiencing the benefit of the proceeds of a solar park. Financial participation is customized. In any case, in every project we strive to outsource work locally in order to create local employment. At Zonnepark Beeksedijk, the final fine-grained landscape design and planting will be carried out by two local parties. Would you also like to help realize the solar park? Feel free to contact us!
